Yoga Dream: A New Book by Kyle Miller with Fun Illustrations by Michael Gigliotti

For anyone who has ever had the urge to giggle during downward-facing dog, Kyle Miller’sYoga Dream is a life-affirming mantra. With poses reimagined in darkly humorous ways by illustrator Michael Gigliotti (think a crocodile sporting a halter top and leggings poised in plank position, for example), Miller’s take on the sutras has an irreverent and playful twist. “I think there is this misconception that yoga is very serious and disciplined when actually there are a billion different perspectives on it, just like fashion,” says the teacher-turned-author. “The book isn’t highly technical or practical, It’s the kind of thing you can keep on your coffee table and look at just for fun.”

Having trained at New York’s renowned Jivamukti Yoga, Miller has studied her fair share of Sanskrit scripture in her time. She started practicing at fifteen in her native Los Angeles, and now splits her time between both coasts. Her private client roster—artists Nate Lowmanand Dan Colen, and designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen—appears to be a creative influence. “Nowadays my favorite thing to work out in besides my Lululemons,” she says, “is a T-shirt by The Row.”
